Mark Francek-a
former middle school teacher, is recipient of 2001 CMU Teaching
Excellence Award and 2002 CASE Michigan Professor of the Year.
Francek teaches earth science teaching methods, introductory earth
science, soil science, and GPS and has research interests in earth
science teaching methods. |

Leigh Orf-teaches Introductory
Meteorology courses and specializes in computer modeling. He has
exposed students to classroom meteorological analysis software to
give them hands-on experience with both observed and model-generated
weather data. |

Terry Lerch-teaches Introduction to
Engineering and Engineering Design Graphics He has received the 2004
College of Science and Technology Teaching Excellence Award and is
an active participant in the planning and implementation of a new,
4-year undergraduate engineering program at CMU. His research
interests include engineering education reform and ultrasonic
evaluation of industrial and biological materials. |

Claudia Douglass-chairperson of the
Biology Department and Professor of
Biology and Science Education, Dr. Douglass has served as Co-PI on other
NSF-funded projects in collaboration and was the PI of the Michigan
Rural Systemic Initiative, to promote inquiry based instruction for
K-12 rural science teachers. A 2002 CMU Teaching Excellence Award
recipient, Dr. Douglass has experience in evaluation, systemic
change, and curriculum development. She is a scientist with strong
ties to education and can facilitate collaboration among the school
districts. |
